A friend of mine called me for a favor last night. Now, I've known him for nearly 25 years so when he told me the story I knew he wasn't making things up nor exaggerating the facts. He's the most easy-going, mellow, tolerant, and patient guy I know, so when something is bothering him, I damn-well know he's got good reason.
It all had to do with a restaurant in downtown Toronto called Noka Sushi. You can find the review here (look for the review dated April 2015).
He asked me to pass this along so that anyone reading this post won't have to go through what he went through. Apparently, the staff, including the Chef and Manager became very hostile to the point of uttering threats which made for a very unpleasant atmosphere. After hearing him tell me the story, I read not only his review but several others written by patrons with similar experiences.
There are more reviews posted on Urban Spoon, FourSquare, and Dine.com that seem to indicate a history of poor customer service at this restaurant.
I am somewhat familiar with the area, having visited that part of Toronto on more than one occasion, so I know there are dozens of restaurants to choose from. Without even having stepped foot into that restaurant, I know I will never give them my business after they mistreated my dear friend like they did.
In this age of social media and always-connected-to-the-internet paradigm, news of such horrible customer service travels at the speed of light.
I am not here to pass judgement, only the message.
