Why do people care what celebrities say, do, or wear? It's almost a certainty that these "stars" are never going to be their friends nor invite them over for parties.
Has anyone told sports fans that they're NOT the ones actually playing the game? Unless these fans are waging bets on the outcome, they really have no stake in the game and therefore have no reason to get upset if "their" team loses.
